FAQ
-
Where do most of your photography sessions take place?
Most of my photography sessions take place around Raleigh and Cary, where there are so many beautiful spots to choose from. Some of my favorite local locations include the North Carolina Museum of Art, with its open fields and sculptures, the JC Raulston Arboretum, known for its colorful gardens and winding paths, and the WRAL Azalea Garden, which is especially stunning in the spring. While these are my go-to spots, I’m always happy to travel to other areas across the Triangle, including Durham, Chapel Hill, and beyond, to find the perfect backdrop for your session.
-
How does your photography differ?
I like to think that my deep connection to Raleigh, the city where I grew up and still call home, helps me capture the unique features of our area during sessions. Having spent years exploring the area with my camera, I’ve discovered countless hidden gems and scenic spots that beautifully showcase the natural charm of the Triangle. Whether it’s the golden light filtering through a local park, the lush gardens around the NCMA, or a quiet trail in Cary, I love highlighting the character and beauty of this region in every session. My local knowledge allows me to create photos that feel authentic, timeless, and truly rooted in the place we call home.
-
Do you have recommendations on what I should wear for my photoshoot?
The best outfits are coordinated and comfortable! Solid, neutral colors often photograph beautifully and keep the focus on you, not your clothes. If it’s a family or couple session, aim for complementary tones rather than perfectly matching outfits.
-
What are your photography specialities?
My photography specialties include mini sessions, event and graduation photography to capture life’s biggest milestones. I love creating images that feel genuine and full of personality, whether it’s a holiday card moment, a candid celebration, or a proud graduation day. Outside of client work, I’m often out exploring with my camera, capturing nature and landscape photos that I share as stock images and personal creative projects.
-
What happens if the weather is bad on our session day?
If the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll reschedule to the next available date that works for both of us. Overcast days can actually be great for photos, but I’ll always keep an eye on the forecast and stay in touch leading up to your shoot.
-
How long will it take to get my photos back?
Turnaround time depends on the session type, but for most sessions I aim for a turnaround time of around 2 weeks. I always aim to deliver as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality!
-
How did you get into photography?
My love for photography started in middle school when I picked up my first point-and-shoot camera. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a passion—I bought my first DSLR in high school and spent countless hours experimenting with techniques, chasing golden light, and exploring scenic spots around Raleigh. Although I didn’t study photography in school, I’ve learned through years of hands-on experience, trial and error, and a genuine love for capturing moments.
-
What if my kids (or partner) don’t cooperate during the session?
That’s totally normal—don’t stress! I focus on making sessions fun and relaxed, and I use prompts to get natural smiles and interactions. My goal isn’t perfection but capturing authentic moments. Patience, laughter, and flexibility usually result in the best photos.
-
Do you edit all the photos?
Yes, every photo you receive is professionally edited to match my style. This includes color correction, lighting adjustments, and basic retouching to make sure everything looks natural and polished. I don’t deliver unedited “raw” files, as the final edits are an important part of my process.
-
Do you travel for photoshoots?
Absolutely! I love photographing new places. For farther destinations, a travel fee may apply to cover mileage or accommodations. I’m happy to work out the details if you have a specific location in mind.
-
How will I receive my photos?
You’ll receive your edited images in an online gallery via Google Drive where you can easily view, download, and share your photos. Just share your email address with me in order to receive the final images!
-
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a non-refundable $35 deposit is required to reserve your date and time, with the remainder due prior to the delivery of the final photos. This ensures your spot on my calendar and allows me to plan all the details for your shoot!
-
What happens if I need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to reschedule, please let me know as soon as possible! I will work with you to find another time that works. Your deposit can be transferred to a new session. Cancellations without notice or excessive rescheduling may forfeit the deposit.
-
Can I bring props or pets to my session?
Feel free to bring props and/or pets for your session! Just let me know ahead of time so I can plan for the best way to include them in the shots.
-
Can I print my photos myself?
Yes! All sessions include print rights, so you can print your photos anywhere you’d like.
